Saturday, November 29, we’re in for a treat as the Brit Yellow Days makes a stop in Control.
George van den Broek got to be known for his bedroom pop, but his brilliant guitarwork and cathartic instrumentals are here to stay. "Gap in the Clouds," from his first EP, reached a broader audience when it accompanied the trailer for the second season of Donald Glover's show Atlanta.
Through his psychedelic, lo-fi music he paintes a vivid picture of teenage life, then created odes for his married life. Philosophical in nature, he got us through all the stages, the hard and uncomfortable questions.
Growing up, he shifted to experimental, jazz-influenced pop artists like Thundercat and Tame Impala, and the grunge-y playfulness of Mac Demarco (with whom he had an unforgettable collaboration).
