In this dynamic 120-minute session, participants will explore the intersection of interpreting and identity through an in-depth look at terminology, strategies, and respectful practices when working with LGBTQ+ individuals in the Deaf community. Through a combination of lecture, group dialogue, demonstrations, and interactive activities, attendees will actively engage with the content while integrating new knowledge into their interpreting skill set.Christopher will utilize techniques such as backchanneling, ongoing feedback, and group discussion to monitor participant comprehension and address areas of confusion in real time. Individual demonstrations and peer collaboration will further reinforce learning and allow participants to assess their own comfort and readiness in navigating interpreting situations involving gender identity and sexual orientation.
