About this Event
CSTAG Threat Assessment Training Day
Thursday 23 April | Radisson Blu Hotel, London Stansted Airport
Schools today face increasing pressure to identify concerning behaviour early and respond in a structured, proportionate and legally defensible way. The Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG), developed by the University of Virginia, provide an internationally recognised and evidence based approach to assessing threats of violence and preventing escalation.
This full day professional training course is designed for school leaders, safeguarding leads, pastoral staff, security professionals and those responsible for pupil welfare. The programme introduces the CSTAG model and demonstrates how schools can move away from purely disciplinary responses and instead apply a structured threat assessment process that focuses on prevention, early intervention and safeguarding.
Throughout the day participants will learn how to identify warning signs, assess the seriousness of threats, manage cases proportionately and build a multidisciplinary response that protects both the individual and the wider school community. The course includes practical exercises, case studies and guided scenarios so that attendees leave with the confidence to apply the CSTAG process within their own organisation.
Training will be delivered by an experienced safety and security consultant with extensive operational experience in policing, safeguarding, risk management and critical incident response. The session combines operational insight with practical application so that the learning can be implemented immediately.

Why this training matters
Threats rarely appear without warning. Schools that understand how to assess behaviour early can intervene before situations escalate into violence or crisis. CSTAG provides a clear and defensible framework that supports safeguarding, protects staff and pupils, and promotes early intervention rather than reaction.
Spaces are limited to ensure interactive learning and discussion.
Book your place now to strengthen your school’s ability to identify risk, intervene early and keep your community safe.
