Crossing Borders Respectfully 2024 Join us on June 28th, 29th and 30th for "Crossing Borders Respectfully", an event that embraces diversity.
About this Event

Crossing Borders Respectfully returns on June 28th, 29th and 30th 2023 in Aston Birmingham, hosted by the UK's Leading African Holistic Dance Practitioner, Sandra Golding (M.A, RSMT); Martha Eddy (DEP, CMA, RSMT, EdD and Licensed TBMC), practitioner in Somatic Movement and Education, and speaker on Health, Wellness and the BodyMind; Kwashi Kuwor and Jahman Aggrey . This is an exciting event that celebrates diversity and promotes cultural understanding, bringing together dancers, holistic movement practitioners, thought leaders, experts, academics, massage therapists and healers (sound, dance, energy) from a range of backgrounds, ages, nationalities, ethnicities and expertise to share ideas and experiences with the aim of:

-building on/developing each participant’s practice;

- enhancing anatomical, physiological aspects of movement;

- learning about each other’s backgrounds; and

- discussing the effects of colonialism and how that has carried through into our DNA

This year the dancers will go on a literal and conceptual journey of crossing borders as they explore the local area crossing bridges, junctions and canals. Also included is an African Drumming Masterclass, Somatic Dance Workshop and ‘Body-Mind think-tank’ where participants can connect through listening, sharing, talking in small groups, writing and exchanging ideas. Food will be available at these nurturing sessions where the participants can connect in a respectful way - expressing their thoughts and experiences through words and dance, to the rhythm of the drums courtesy of master drummers.

The real highlight of the event is the chance to meet new people and make meaningful connections. Whether you're a long-time resident of Birmingham or a newcomer to the area, Crossing Borders Respectfully is the perfect opportunity to expand your horizons and broaden your perspective.

So mark your calendar and join us for a day of celebration and unity. We can't wait to see you there!
