Crosses and pivots both require a precise core lead and differentiating clearly between the two is a technical challenge. This workshop focuses on the technique needed to lead and follow pivots and crosses in all their scope. We will be looking at long, smooth pivots contrasted with short and snappy crosses and, for those who want an extra challenge, soft crosses in contrast to snappy pivots. This wide scope of movements in different styles and moods opens up possibilities to express our musicality more thoroughly. The technical skills vital to achieving this will be taught in great detail and you will be given options to make it attainable and satisfying whether you want an ambitious challenge or a simple introduction to the concept. You will also be given exercises for homework designed by Miriam Gita to help you develop the strength, control, flexibility and balance necessary to dance Argentine tango well.
