About this Event
Join Black Women Rest for a special screening of Crooklyn—a beloved Spike Lee film that captures the beauty, complexity, and tenderness of Black family life through the lens of a young Black girl growing up in 1970s Brooklyn.
This gathering is a fundraiser supporting mental health initiatives in the Alabama River region, helping us continue to create spaces for wellness, healing, and community care.
Come for an evening grounded in storytelling, cultural memory, and family dynamics.
Opening and closing reflections will be offered by Anneshia Hardy, cultural narrative strategist, communications scholar-practitioner, and host of The Hardy Exchange.
