Katie Cousins’ work pulls from tattoo culture, illustration, and personal symbolism to create images that feel both familiar and slightly off. She is interested in the space between humor and discomfort — where something can be bold and playful at first glance, but carries a heavier undertone.
Her practice spans multiple mediums, including acrylic on canvas, mirrors, watercolor flash, and skateboards. This mix of materials allows her to explore how her imagery shifts across different surfaces.
Much of her imagery references traditional flash, though rather than preserving it, she bends it. Recognizable forms are pushed into something more personal, more exaggerated, and more honest. There is a balance between control and looseness in her linework that reflects her overall approach — intuitive, slightly chaotic, but always intentional.
The show will feature a mix of skateboard decks, watercolor flash, mirrors, and acrylic paintings on canvas. Art will be for sale as well as select prints.
Come hang, meet the artist and have a great time.
