This six-part series of classes will take you from complete beginner to confident crocheter. You will learn foundational concepts and skills by crocheting a series of coasters using different techniques in progressing difficulty. We will then finish the class by crocheting a hat as our final project. By the end of the class you will have a strong understanding of foundational concepts and the skills to complete many beginner and beginner+ level crochet patterns. In this class, you will learn:
--three or four foundational crochet stitches
--how to read a pattern
--how to begin your crochet project
--yarn 101
--how to change yarn
--how to bind off
--how to end your project and give it a professional finish
--all about gauge and how to make projects that will fit
Why learn with us?
--Small Class Sizes: Our crochet and knitting classes are capped at 4 students, so every learner gets individual attention and help.
--Professionally Designed Curriculum: Our curriculum has been designed for complete beginners by an instructional designer and crocheter to give you the knowledge and skills you need to be successful on your crochet journey.
--Encouraging Community: We really care about your success, and we strive to create the best learning environment we can for our learners. This is a low-pressure, fun, encouraging place to learn. No need for perfection - just bring your willingness to learn.
--Supplemental Learning: You will receive a handout at every class that has the pattern we covered in class, supplemental pattern recommendations for additional practice, and a link to video playlists that show the skills we covered that lesson - so you won’t get lost after you go home!
Homework: Homework will be required every week to develop your skills. Please be aware that completing your homework is a crucial part of your learning in this class. If you don’t have the time to complete 1-2 hours of crochet per week outside of class, we recommend waiting to take this class until you have the time.
