About this Event
Dr Omar Kaissi and Dr Aliandra Barlete, convenors of the Critical Realism Study Group (CRSG) at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, The University of Edinburgh, are pleased to invite you to a hybrid talk on Critical Realism.
This session will offer an introduction to the preliminaries of understanding critical realism as both a philosophy of knowledge and a research practice approach - an emergent field of inquiry within education and across the broader social and human sciences.
The talk will be delivered by Dr Omar Kaissi and moderated by Dr Aliandra Barlete, followed by an open Q&A session with the audience, both in person and online.
We welcome all PGT and PGR students, as well as staff, who are interested in beginning to explore critical realism and how it can be used to investigate contemporary issues and challenges in education and beyond.
This hybrid session will be primarily theoretical, yet designed to remain accessible and engaging. By 'theoretical,' we mean the essential, but certainly comprehensible and digestible, principles of critical realism that can support learners and researchers interested in this approach.
As places are limited for both in-person and online attendance, please register using this page.
If you’d like to learn more about our ongoing and upcoming activities, or access pre-reads and useful resources on critical realism, please visit our CRSG page: .
