Join us on November 22, 2024, at The House of Signatories in Vilnius, Lithuania, for an exploration of the evolving dynamics of European identity amidst current geopolitical and societal shifts. The conference will assemble thinkers and policymakers to address the question: Is Europe facing a crisis of identity?Against a backdrop of war, debates on sovereignty, and emerging radical movements, the conference will probe the resilience of European identity and democratic solidarity in the face of global threats.
Sessions will feature speakers, including: Žygimantas Pavilionis, Deputy Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament, delivering the keynote; Dr. Mantas Adomėnas, Secretary General at the Community of Democracies, discussing the potential of democratic solidarity; Dr. Nerija Putinaitė and Dr. Simas Čelutka from Vilnius University, examining the tensions between European and national identities and how radicalism reflects identity challenges within Europe; Federico Ottavio Reho, Strategic Coordinator at Wilfried Martens Center, and Dr. Laurynas Peluritis from Vilnius University, addressing sovereignty and the principle of subsidiarity within the EU framework.
