About this Event

A Freedom of Speech Tour - 40 Minutes: Inside Mic Drop Comedy Detroit

Comedy didn’t evolve politely.

It climbed.

Crimes of Speech is a private, guided tour exploring the comedians and entertainers who were arrested, banned, surveilled, or silenced for what they said, and changed free speech forever because of it.

This 35-minute experience takes place inside Mic Drop Comedy Detroit, moving through the showroom, backstage areas, and curated displays highlighting artists who challenged censorship, police power, and cultural “giants.” From early vaudeville performers to counterculture icons, this tour traces how comedy and entertainment became one of the most dangerous … and necessary … forms of speech in American history.

This is not a comedy show.
It’s the story of how comedy (and entertainment) survived law, pressure, and power.
