About this Event
About the Speaker
Christopher Ray Garcia, affectionately known as Sten, is a Miami-born creative director, storyteller, poet, and community builder. A graduate of the Film program at The Art Institute of Miami, he began his career working in film and television, including in the camera department on Moonlight, the Academy Award–winning Best Picture of 2017, and the television series Burn Notice, recognized by ASCAP as a Top TV Series in 2011.
When not working on film sets, Sten spent weekends filming weddings for family and friends, driven by a love for capturing life’s most meaningful moments. What began as a simple hobby quickly grew into a thriving production business, eventually expanding to include an in-house editor and a team of five videographers. The company would go on to serve couples across South Florida before Sten ultimately scaled and sold the business.
Passionate about helping creatives build sustainable careers, Sten later co-founded Creatives for Connection, a nonprofit organization that provided education and mentorship to artists and entrepreneurs seeking to turn their creative side hustles into viable businesses. The organization focused on practical skills often overlooked in creative industries, including business structure, accounting, trademarking, and entrepreneurial development. Sten led the organization for three years until it closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sten is also a poet and the founder of Miami Poetry Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making poetry writing education accessible to all. For the past four years, the organization has hosted writing workshops twice each month, cultivating a vibrant literary community and creating space for writers across Miami to develop their craft and share their voices.
Today, Sten serves as Creative Director and lead storyteller at The Bricklayer Agency, the commercial arm of his creative umbrella, which also includes MissionTeller.Media, an initiative dedicated to amplifying the stories of nonprofit and mission-driven organizations. Through his work, Sten continues to build bridges between storytelling, entrepreneurship, and community impact.

CreativeZen is a FREE monthly breakfast lecture series presented by Choose954, a division of The UniteUs Group, hosted in partnership with Zero Empty Spaces.
Held on the second Friday morning of each month, these inspiring gatherings feature local voices sharing heartfelt stories of creativity, purpose, and reinvention — all designed to uplift and unite our community.
✨ Being creative is not required. Being inspired is guaranteed.
CreativeZen was born out of a desire for Choose954 to connect, engage, and inspire our local creative community with support from Zero Empty Spaces & The UniteUs Group. We open the doors 30 minutes before the talk starts to mix, meet, and mingle with fellow likeminded members of our community.
Every Creative Zen event includes a complimentary guided meditation before a short inspiring and thought provoking talk during the second Friday morning of the month. All Creative Zen events are free of charge and open to the community, being creative is not required!
