Discover how to craft vivid, believable characters who feel real to readers in this two-session creative writing workshop! Through fun, hands-on exercises, you’ll explore motivation, desire and transformation, key elements that make characters unforgettable.
The workshop -- led by April DeOliveira, editor-in-chief of Cereal City Review -- will start with a focus on observation, imagination and creating original character sketches, then explore character arcs, conflict and emotional growth. Participants will leave with new writing, practical tools for revision and a booklet of exercises to keep their creativity flowing.
The $35 workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, March 16 and 23, in Room 304 of the Lane-Thomas Memorial Building on Kellogg Community College's campus at 450 North Ave. in Battle Creek.
Registration can be completed entirely online at https://reg136.imperisoft.com/kellogg/ProgramDetail/3334383333/Registration.aspx. Use the program code EBSP26 by March 6 for 10% off the registration fee!
