Creative Writing for Mental Health: Guided Workshop

Welcome to BYKE Academy where we advocate mental health and a positive mindset. This is our first in person workshop in HCMC -- a creative writing workshop.
We also want to establish right away that this is about unearthing and externalizing, not editing or making "perfect art." No one gets put on the spot, and you can control how much you want to share.

✍️ What to expect:
Writing prompts and instructions will be given by the instructor, who she will guide everyone to express their emotions through metaphors and third-person perspectives.
Warm up
**(Please arrive 15 minutes early)
Activity 1 | Build a room -> instead of naming difficult emotions and trauma, everyone will build a house through writing.
Activity 2 | The Museum Artifact -> we will write a description of an object that is important to you, as if it were an artifact in a museum.
Activity 3 |Third Person Reframe -> rewrite a difficult moment as if it happened to a fictional character.
Closing
Networking afterwards.

✍️ About the Instructor:
Sheena Petten is a Canadian writer, poet, and teacher who cares deeply about using the written word to navigate difficult experiences.
Bringing a warm, intuitive approach shaped by a literary background and counseling practices, Sheena creates an open, grounded space for people to write through heavy themes. She helps individuals use metaphor, perspective, and imagery to look at tough memories safely, guiding them to move past cliches and find the raw, honest truths in their own stories.

Anyone who loves writing, dealing with heavy stuff, and wants a safe space for creative writing. NO WRITING Experience needed and must be above 18 years old.
