City of Wollongong supports six local artists every year through their Artists in Residence project. Six artists are awarded a heavily subsidised studio space for 12 months and located in the Lower Town Hall. Entry is from the laneway between Wollongong Art Gallery and the Town Hall. The Creative Wollongong Studio Open Day is the community's opportunity to visit the studios, meet the artists, find out more about their creative practice, purchase some artworks and learn more about how to apply for the next round of residencies.
Artists in Residence are:
Rhiannon Pegler (painter/sculptor), Tim Baker (photographer), Haji Oh (textiles and fibre), Dr Virginia Keft, Muruwarri (painting, drawing, weaving, sculpture and sound art), Michelle Haydon (community based conceptual), Matthew Grayson (embroidery and textiles).
Special guest star at the open day is musician, Freya Garbett and we'll also have giveaways on the day!
