Join us for a full day of creativity inspired by the Fens! You’ll enjoy four artist-led taster workshops (each one hour long), designed to give you a feel for the techniques and ideas explored in our full-length sessions.
It’s the perfect chance to experiment, play, and learn something new—all in a relaxed and inspiring setting.
✨ This year’s workshops include:
Angela Daymond - Sew a Fenland Moon Workshop
A full moon over the flat Fens is the most beautiful thing to see.
In this workshop you will first stencil your moon onto dark fabric. You will then learn how to use a mix of thick threads including metallic and stranded threads. Silhouetted against the moon you will begin to stitch different grasses and plants.
Jack Harris - Mixed Media Fenland Panorama Workshop
Explore the beauty of the Fenlands in this mixed media art session. Capture the colours, textures, patterns and shapes of wide open skies and expansive landscape. Experiment with various drawing techniques, tools, inks, watercolour paints and pens and pencils. Following step-by-step guidance you will create a beautiful panorama artwork on paper to take home. Perfect for all skill levels, this class will help you bring the magic of the Fens to life.
Finch and Toad Upholstery - Wild Grass Lampshade Workshop
During this session, you will learn how to make a professionally finished, modern drum lampshade for your home. The frame, lining and fabric for your 20cm lampshade will be supplied as well as all the materials and tools.
We will be using colourful wild grass patterned fabric.
There are 3 different colourways to choose from on the day.
Jo Banks - Submerged Fenland Flora Workshop
In this creative submerged flower photography workshop, you'll work in pairs using my cameras and flash setups to explore this fun technique. Inspired by the colours and textures of the Fens, you'll use fresh and dried flowers, milk, and food dyes to craft striking abstract images. Each participant receives a 6x4 print.
