About this Event
“Creative health should form an integral part of a 21st -century health and social care system – one that is holistic, person-centred, and which focuses on reducing inequalities and supporting people to live well for longer.” – Creative Health Review, 2023, National Centre for Creative Health
The restructure of NHS delivery into Integrated Neighbourhood Teams opens up an exciting opportunity to explore what role engaging in creativity can play in the 10 Year Health Plan for England (2025-35)’s focus on early intervention and prevention of ill health.
Following our initial conversations around Creative Health in BCP during Autumn 2024, we'd love to welcome health and cultural pracitioners to join us for this Creative Health Summit, hosted by the Cultural Compact at Pavilion Dance South West.
The aim of the summit is to gain a shared understanding of the emerging priorities of the new Neighbourhood Teams, and the ways in which creative activities could contribute to reducing demand on the NHS – from rolling out an existing offer to a new Neighbourhood to creating a bespoke service in response to a specific challenge.
“I love the stories that keep your mind engaged and body follows. Teachers are wonderful, full of joy and fun. A no pressure chance to move and keep fit. I love being here. Body and back feel easier and more manageable.” Participant in Groove to Improve (dance class for adults with persistent lower back pain developed by Pavilion Dance SW & Health Sciences University)
Dorset’s first ever Creative Health Strategy, co-created by NHS Dorset, Public Health and the Arts Development Company, will also be launched at the Summit.
