Yoga Nidra with Chakra Acupuncture

Yoga Nidra led by Jennifer Pittenger, Acupuncture by Pier Derrickson, L.Ac.

Sunday June 4th, 2023 from 5-7pm

Come find deep relaxation with this special yoga nidra session led by Jennifer Pittenger, with acupuncture by Pier Derrickson, LAc!

Acupuncture needles will be placed at specific chakra points, as Jen guides you through a deep meditation practice, focusing on opening and balancing the chakras. The combination of yoga nidra and acupuncture will take you to a state of deep relaxation and cultivate an overall state of well-being.

Yoga nidra is a term for a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, the practice has its roots in the Indian philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and Tantrism. During a yoga nidra session, one lies on their back in shavasana while the teacher walks through a sequence of overall body awareness, breath awareness, visualizations and the setting of an intention or sankalpa.

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine where points on the body are stimulated in order to help the body to heal itself. For over two thousand years, acupuncture has been used to promote health and well-being by balancing the flow of qi (pronounced chee) or life force, within the body.

The seven Chakras are the main energy centers in the body, in Ayurvedic tradition. These points also correlate with powerful healing points in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Together yoga nidra and acupuncture can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and promote better sleep. Come try this deeply profound experience for yourself!

Jennifer Pittenger has been practicing and teaching yoga and meditation for 15 years. In addition to her yoga and meditation, she has worked as an interior designer for 25 years and is the Design Leader for L2P now Stantec in Philadelphia.

Jen obtained her yoga teacher certification from Saraswati River Yoga in 2008, and has been studying with her teacher Parvati Nanda Nath ever since. Her 15 year journey with Parvati has been steeped in meditation, asana, and mantra in the ancient practices of Sri Vidya, a thousands year old wisdom tradition. This path has given her a unique perspective on life. It has given her insight into depths of her own self awareness and relationship. It has enriched her design sensibilities creating spaces that not only touch the senses but also the heart.

Merging her creative capacity with a deepened and compassioned sense of self allows her to manifest beauty by being the steadfast mirror for others to see the trueness within themselves.

Pier Derrickson, LAc. is co-owner of Note to Self Wellness, where she practices acupuncture, massage, gua sha and cupping techniques as well as facial acupuncture. She is a licensed, board-certified acupuncturist in the state of Pennsylvania.

Pier practices acupuncture in the styles of Five Element and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and feels that practicing within both systems allows her to simultaneously treat both physical and emotional imbalances within the body. She is grateful to have this medicine in her life and likens it to having an owner’s manual for the human body.

Pier has also worked as a commercial interior designer in the corporate, hospitality segments for over 30 years. Pier and Jen worked together in the design world for many years and share a special synergy on wellness, eastern philosophy, art, design and life. They have done several well-recieved meditation and acupuncture collaboration events together.
