About this Event
Creative Group Therapy: Fostering Identity for Women Post-Incarceration
Incarceration can disrupt one's sense of identity and self-awareness as incarceration can strip people of their individuality. This group will help you become more aware of yourself and help you connect with your self-identity post-incarceration. This group may aid you in becoming aware of yourself, your emotions, and your behaviors. In turn, you may see a pattern in how your emotions and behaviors may affect your relationships with others. This group may also help to build hope, strength, and community during this transitional phase. This therapeutic group uses creative therapy practices. Group members will be able to express themselves through, art, drama, and poetry creation.
There will be 4 sessions: February 3rd, February 10th, February 17th, and February 24th from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Group participants are encouraged to attend all sessions, as they build off each other. This event is not free, but we do accept Molina, United Healthcare, and Sentara insurance. We also have additional payment options available.
If you have any questions or would like to register for the group, please email Abby Maxwell at [email protected] or call (804) 370-1050
