Join us for an engaging workshop led by MA Animation students, aimed at inspiring UAL students and staff to become catalysts for climate action through the creation of impactful characters. In this interactive session, we will blend the realms of art and environmental advocacy to explore the vital role of new role models in shaping a sustainable future.
Drawing inspiration from the ethos of Solarpunk, a visionary movement that imagines a future where humanity triumphs over contemporary challenges through sustainability, community, and technology, we will delve into the creative process of character design. Participants will have the opportunity to craft characters that embody the principles of climate action and serve as beacons of change in their communities.
Using hands-on activities employing recycled materials, attendees will learn effective techniques for character creation while also gaining a deeper understanding of climate justice issues. Through the power of creative storytelling, we will examine how narratives can be harnessed as potent tools for advocating for environmental change.

This workshop is part of our Earth Day 2024, Earth week-long series of events across UAL colleges and sites, showcasing creative environmental action from UAL communities. From Climate Advocates to Changemakers, Repair Cafés to Garden Societies, our campuses will come alive with interconnected ecosystems of creative projects and interventions led by students, staff, alumni, and friends.
