Ever wanted to build your own virtual gallery, fantasy environment, or interactive digital space? The Public Art Futures Lab presents a hands-on, two-part intensive where participants will learn how to design and publish a fully navigable 3D world that can be experienced in virtual reality.
Led by experienced artists and technologists Drew Pearson of XR Dojo and Dan Flores of Vector Maestros, this workshop introduces tools and workflows for creating immersive environments using Spatial, a platform that allows artists, designers, and creatives to build shareable VR spaces without needing advanced coding skills. You bring a laptop – we provide VR headsets!
This workshop is designed to meet participants where they are:
- Beginners will gain a broad foundation and walk away with a completed virtual space
- More experienced VR or digital artists can use the time to focus deeply on a specific project or idea
Possible projects include:
- A virtual gallery to showcase 2D or 3D artwork
- A playful or narrative-driven world (fantasy landscapes, imagined environments, speculative spaces)
- A custom VR room designed around illustration, animation, or sculptural forms
