About this Event
Get involved in creating the artwork for this year’s Boston International Hanseatic Day.
Create collage artworks inspired by Boston’s heritage!
Whether you’re an experienced maker or trying something for the very first time, these friendly sessions are a brilliant way to learn new skills, meet others and be part of a major community celebration of Boston’s European links and centuries-old Hanseatic history. Your collage styles will inform the designs of the textile banners created in Vicki Reid’s quilting workshops.
Aga Kowalska is an illustrator specialising in collage created with hand-painted papers. She creates her own papers using inks, gouache and acrylic paints, exploring vibrant colours and rich textures. Her practice has a strong handmade quality.
You can see her work on her website at agakowalska.com, as well as her latest projects and behind-the-scenes photographs from her home studio on Instagram: @agakowalskastudio_lincoln.
During this full-day workshop, Aga will guide participants through the process of preparing their own unique painted papers and will support them in designing and completing final collage artworks inspired by the rich history and heritage of Hasiatyc Boston.
