This event is being run in conjunction with the Friends of West Bank Park. The Make Space York project & the Friends of Rowntree Park are supporting them looking at ways to make the park more welcoming to older girls.
Background:
The Make Space York project is focused on creating welcoming parks for older girls. As girls enter their teenage years, their use of parks drops compared to boys. This means girls are missing out on the physical and mental health benefits that spending time outdoors in parks can bring.
The project focuses on improvements to the physical space and also events and activities to create a chance to try new things, meet new people and feel welcome in parks.
Events and activities are funded by grants and sponsorship. This means we can offer free activities.
