About this Event
Imagine the textiles and waste materials we discard drifting into the oceans, becoming tangled in ‘ghost nets’ that gather detritus and marine life before sinking to the seabed — where they might one day become the imagined fossils of the future.
Join us at hubCAP’s Gatehouse space for a hands-on workshop with Annette Bruton, Textile Artist in Residence at Edinburgh College.
Beginning with the idea of discarded textiles drifting into oceans and becoming entangled in ‘ghost nets’, this session invites you to imagine how today’s waste might one day become the fossils of the future. Using reclaimed and waste materials, you’ll create a small speculative artwork that reflects on sustainability, care and the afterlife of the things we throw away.
All materials are provided, and you’re welcome to keep your work.
