The Crane 5K Fun Run will support the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus's mission to eliminate homelessness by providing permanent supportive housing to individuals experiencing housing insecurity. At the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus, we help men and women who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of becoming homeless, move into their own apartment while being surrounded by supportive services. A sense of community and belonging is essential as residents transition out of a life of homelessness and into a life of stability and personal success. One way we provide this is through a weekly walking club; a time when neighbors can come together with staff and volunteers to get to know one another, build friendships and better their physical and mental health. Each week, our residents walk increasing distances as they prepare for the 5k fun run on April 27th.
