IMPORTANT INFORMATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Priority as always is look after the island and look after yourselves. Make sure to clean up everything you take onto the island with you. Don’t take glass bottles, try and put them in a plastic bottles before you come. Keep an eye on everyone to make sure they’re ok and be wary of getting too wasted. Make sure to take food and water with you. For those of you who have never been before, this is a key element in making sure this event is able to happen every year, so don’t ruin it for everyone else. Bring heavy-duty black bin bags to carry back all waste generated from us being there.
Our gear will be arriving at the causeway at 9am. We need everyone to help bring this across. So please arrive early to help with this. The same goes for coming back at the end of the night. We need all the help we can getting everything back at the end of the night. This is not T in the Park, this is DIY punk, if you’re not helping in some capacity, then you’re not doing your bit.
The weather is usually good, however just in case it takes a turn for the worse, make sure you have a warm jacket with you. Light showers are not unheard of. Back up plans are in the place should it start raining, and the event will continue regardless of the weather. Those of you who came a couple of years ago and witnessed the brilliant "year of the bunker" will know full well how good it can still be.
We will be finishing at 7:45pm and the sunset will be 8:27pm, so there’s plenty of daylight left to navigate back across the island. As always, we ask that as soon as the bands finish, you grab your gear, grab a piece of equipment and help bring it back across the causeway. The causeway itself is full of holes and booby traps, so be careful when crossing back in the dark. We’ve had plenty of knackered ankles and scuffed elbows over the years, so be vigilant. If you’re camping overnight (which is Free and regularly done in case you were contemplating it) and coming off the next morning, the crossing is between 9.00am and 1.00pm. There is also a free car park BEHIND the pub as you come down the road towards the coast, should you wish to park for the night.
Whilst we welcome kids and dogs, our main concerns are the glass (which we always try to clean up a few days before and do quite a good job of at our area) and noise. Obviously kids and dogs ears are very sensitive, so please consider that before you take dogs onto the island, and obviously ear muffs for the little ones are a good idea.
There are no shops on the island and the shop on the shoreside of the causeway is tiny and doesn’t sell booze, so get these things before you come down. But bring money with you onto the island because we will be selling t-shirts, with all the money helping to pay for the costs of bands, van hire, petrol for the generator etc. This is a key element in making this happen every year so please support. The t-shirts are available at £12 each. Wholesale shirt prices are going up so we've had to bump it up a few quid unfortunately, however if you're financially able, a further donation is ALWAYS appreciated.
We are a 100% pro-equality event, this should go without saying. Any racist, sexist, queerphobic or similar behaviour will not be tolerated in the slightest. If you’re inclined towards any of those things, simply stay away, you’re not welcome. Apart from that, invite your friends, share some moments of joy, look after each other and have the best time.
If you wish to take public transport to Cramond, you'll need to get on the Lothian Bus number 47 or 47B. This replaces the old Number 41 bus which was discontinued May 2023. It looks like the best place to catch it is the most westernly point of Princes Street as it merges into Queensferry Street. Last time I checked, you were no more than £2 for a single on Lothian Buses. Make sure you get the bus going to Cramond and not the other way! The timetable has the last bus around 11.30pm, with them every 30 minutes before that.
