About this Event
Weekly Meeting: Wednesday, 5pm-7pm
In the Crafty Critters club we will encourage the creative energy of children ages 10-12 year old. Throughout this club, children will take inspiration from and observation of the animals at the shelter to design and sew a stuffed animal friend! Children will be learning the life skill of sewing, which will work to improve fine motor skills and encourage creativity, all while interacting with, learning about and caring for the animals in the shelter. This is the perfect opportunity for any creative, animal-loving children in your life!
Our Crafty Critters club attendees will…
- Learn to identify animal body language signs in dogs, cats, bunnies, and more
- Develop their creativity and artistic confidence by designing and sewing their own stuffed animal inspired by shelter pets
- Strengthen fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination through hands‑on sewing practice
- Learn foundational sewing techniques that build a valuable lifelong skill
- Observe and interact with shelter animals to inspire thoughtful, animal‑themed craft designs
- Build empathy and compassion by learning about the care and needs of animals in the shelter
- Collaborate with peers and staff in a supportive, creative environment
- Explore how arts and crafts can promote kindness, connection, and appreciation for animals
- Gain pride in creating a meaningful, handmade project that celebrates our adoptable animals and personal creativity

Before enrolling, we encourage families to talk with their children to ensure they are interested in participating in the program.
We want every participant to feel welcome, engaged, and empowered. Together, we’ll build new skills, help animals in need, and make a positive impact! we look forward to learning and growing together!
