Craftopia ‘Season 10’ returns this summer with a special edition rooted in nature, memory, and making. Set within the vibrant space of the National Crafts Museum & Hastakala Academy, this summer art camp invites young participants to slow down, observe, and create through meaningful hands-on experiences.Inspired by shared spaces, everyday traditions, and the quiet wisdom passed through generations, this season explores how stories live in materials, surroundings, and simple acts of making. With an ecological and sustainable lens, each day encourages participants to engage with natural elements, and build a deeper connection with the environment.Through guided sessions with artists, educators, and traditional practitioners, Craftopia becomes a space of discovery-where creativity grows from listening, touching, and responding to the world around us.For age group 6 to 14 years.Day 1 – Knotty Creatures (26 May)From strands to forms - participants will explore how simple jute can take shape through touch and movement. Day 2 – Inherent Sounds (27 May)Participants will create instruments using seeds and natural elements discovering rhythm texture and the quiet music of their surroundings.Day 3 – Handcrafted Mechanics (28 May)Participants will build simple kinetic forms exploring motion balance and the joy of bringing still materials to life.Day 4 – Reimagining Objects (29 May)Participants will gather and reimagine found materials shaping them into characters forms and unexpected compositions.Day 5 – Interlaced Structures (30 May)Participants will discover how natural materials, like cane, can bend twist and hold form while learning from traditional practices.Day 6 – Burlap Overlap (2 June)Participants will stitch fill and shape discarded textiles giving new life to materials through playful making.Day 7 – Tavdi Traditions (3 June)Participants will work with clay and natural colours creating forms that reflect traditional practices and their connection to the land.Day 8 – Kitchen Imprints (4 June)Participants will explore printing with natural dyes and discover slow processes where light time and material come together.Day 9 – Earth as Canvas (5 June)Participants will use natural pigments and textures to create surfaces inspired by storytelling traditions rooted in the environment.Day 10 – Twist-N-Groove (6 June)Participants will create palm leaf puppets bringing together material gesture and imagination as the journey comes to a close. The camp will conclude with a collection of handmade works and shared experiences that reflect learning through materials stories and everyday encounters with the natural world.
