About this Event
Class Description
Did you ever wonder how felt is made? Using traditional techniques? Where felt is coming from? What is the history of felt? We can answer all these questions and much more. We can actually teach you how to make your own flat piece of felt. But that is not everything, once you understand the basics, we will go even further, and we teach you how to create some more elaborate pieces. You will learn how to blend in non-wool items (such as silk hankies) and how to tie in artefacts to create 3D shapes. We will be using a variety of wool, different breeds, and some blends, undyed and dyed. You will make at least 3 pieces to take away with you. You will be able to buy fleece on the day, so you can carry on experimenting at home.
What do I need to bring?
- We will be using sheep wool and soap, so feel free to bring some gloves to protect your hands (optional)
- You can bring some fleece to use in your creations (optional)
- Smile, good mood, enthusiasm, and some patience are always useful tools to have ?
Just to sew things up...
All equipment and fleece are provided. We will have tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water etc and biscuits ready for you.
