Purpose of the Workshop

CRADLE (Centre for Robotic Autonomy in Demanding and Long Lasting Environments) and the Quantum Technology Hubs invite you to an engaging workshop to explore where quantum technologies might benefit and enable new robotic solutions. The aim is to develop collaborations across industry and academia that could deliver a demonstration of this vision.

Background

Quantum technologies have the real potential to transform our lives. New solutions providing sensing and computing capability emerging from fundamental research programmes will underpin the next leap in capability.

Robots are cyber-physical systems that use sensing and computing technologies to interact with people and environments. They offer great potential to enhance our world but are often limited by the current technologies.

Quantum-based systems could be the capability that enables robotics to solve the more complex and demanding problems that our society needs.

Workshop Format

The workshop will be an idea exchange between the robotics and quantum technology communities, based around three use cases where robotic solutions still face many challenges.

  • Interacting with the environment
  • Going underground
  • Challenges of nature

Event Agenda
  • Meet and register
  • Introduction to CRADLE and overview of robotic technologies relevant to the challenge studies
  • Introduction to Quantum Technology Hubs and overview of quantum technology
  • Introduction to the challenge studies
  • Breakout into collaborative workshops to explore the three challenges
  • Closing session

Why Should You Attend?

You should attend this workshop if:

  • You are interested to know more about quantum technologies and their application to robotics
  • Your research intersects with the topics in discussion
  • You have challenges where robotics or quantum technologies may contribute towards a solution
  • You have robotics or quantum technologies that may be relevant to the topics of discussion
  • You invest in these technologies and are interested in supporting the outcomes of this initiative
