About this Event
CPR FOR YOUR WHEEL SPINNING - Instructor:- Kim Specht Date: Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Max: 12 Min Age: 14 Class Fee: $45 Materials fee payable to instructor: $10
In this intermediate class we will address Consistency, the how’s and why’s of creating the yarn you want: adjusting your wheel for a comfortable ratio, ways to measure your yarn (TPI, WPI, balanced yarn), adjusting your drafting for the type of fiber you are using, (over the fold, short draw, supported long draw).
And we will address Plying: Andean plying, 2 and 3 ply from bobbins, and chain plying.
We’ll do as much Repetition as time allows. The goal is thoughtful practice to establish new techniques. I’ll send you home with a class outline including homework!
Students should bring:
Bring your working spinning wheel (wheels are not provided). If you have them, bring extra bobbins, a Lazy Kate, a small niddy-noddy, and a spinning chair (or a cushion for the inevitable folding chair!). I will provide beautiful white Romney roving, but please bring any animal fiber you have dreams of spinning.
