About this Event
Emily has been training in Japanese Jiu Jitsu since 2013, “I started at uni because I wanted to know how to defend myself … There was always a lack of female, queer and POC role models in martial arts, so I made it my mission as an autistic queer Latina woman to achieve my black belt and teach self-defence to more people like myself.”
Jiu Jitsu is a defensive martial art. Learning it gives you situational awareness and self-defence skills. We use throws, locks and strikes to defend from a variety of attacks which can be applied in modern day contexts, from someone trying to grab your wrist to pub brawls. Our martial art shows that you don't have to be strong, big or athletic to be able to protect yourself.
We run these classes on the first Sunday of every month.
