Ed Septimus, MD, received his medical degree – and postgraduate training in internal medicine and infectious diseases – at the Baylor College of Medicine. He is board-certified in both disciplines. Dr. Septimus was Vice President of Research and Infectious Diseases at HCA Healthcare until 2018. Prior to HCA, he was medical director of infectious diseases and occupational health for Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Infectious Diseases Society of America; is a member of the FDA’s Anti-Infective Drug Advisory Group; and, is co-chair of the National Quality Forum’s Patient Safety Steering Committee.
Currently, Dr. Septimus is Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine; Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School’s Department of Population Medicine; and Distinguished Senior Fellow at George Mason University’s School of Public Health. He has published over 120 articles and chapters.
