Courts of CourageTeam check-in at 8:30. Group photos and rules meeting at 9:00. Pool Play begins immediately following.
There will be short break after pool play to make the brackets and complete the raffle but we won’t have a “lunch break”. Plan to stagger your lunches. This helps the kitchen staff get food out in a timely manner for all players and attendees.
You can bring Gatorade/water bottles but please do not bring coolers. No outside food or alcohol is allowed.
There are restrooms outside. But if you go inside, shirt and shoes are required.
We will continue to play if it rains but break for lightning.
You can bring canopies and camping type chairs to use throughout the day.
Teams
Teams can consist of any number of guys/girls but you cannot play with more guys than girls. Example, you can have 6 girls, 4 girls and 2 guys, 3 girls and 3 guys, but you can’t have 4 guys and 2 girls. It is acceptable to bring a guy up to block when there is only 1 other guy in the front row. If something comes up that changes your team makeup (heat, injury, etc), please let a tournament director know.
Pool Play and Tournament Rules
Pool Play brackets and courts will be announced when all teams are checked in and waivers have been completed.
All Pool Play games will consist of 1 game to 25--race to 25, you don’t need to win by 2.
You will need to report exact scores after each pool play game.
Let serves are allowed.
Open serving.
No blocking or attacking a serve.
Limit all extended contacts or carries. Other ball handling is rec league.
If it hits the line, it is in. If you can’t agree, replay.
If it is windy, decide before starting your game if you are changing sides of the court and when.
Please call your own net violations for safety.
There will be no breaks during pool play games. Each game will begin immediately.
Please don’t take more than 3 minutes between sets.
When in doubt, replay the point.
Please remember, we will have teams from all levels mixed together during pool play. For accurate tournament placement, no sandbagging is allowed.
Tournament
Teams will be divided into brackets. The number of divisions will be dependent on the total number of teams registered.
Tournament games will be best of 3. With the first and second set to 21 and if the third is required it will be to 15 win by 2. There is a 15 point cap on the third set except in the gold division. There are no caps in the gold division.
All divisions are double elimination. In the loser’s bracket all games are 1 set to 25. Cap is 25.
*If your team needs a 10 min break because of the heat and you played back-to-back or a long game, please let Elissa know. Otherwise, it is expected you will play as soon as your court is available. We know it’s hot and we want everyone to be safe.
Cash prizes are dependent on the total number of registered teams.
