This brilliant course focuses on historical Dickensian period costumes, between 1850 and 1870. The course will give you the opportunity to explore the Dickensian fashions. During the 4 sessions you will look at key elements of the period, social influences on the fashion of the time and construction of the garments. Along with looking at the historical details, we will learn about under garments such as corsets and crinolines, which created the recognisable silhouette of the period. We will also sew elements of the garments, learning techniques to construct a Dickensian look. We will look at draping a corset, gathering flounces, how crinolines were made and if you choose to make historical accessories. This course runs weekly from 5th November until the 26th November.
