This course was designed for creatives working in the costume department in theatre or TV to improve their sewing/alterations skils. CULT Cymru are able to offer it to sewing novices, including creative people who are looking to diversify their range of work.

Aim of the Session.

The aim of the session is to enable people to be able to carry out emergency repairs & alterations. These skills can also be applied as a Dresser for stage or stand-by for screen - as well as home life.

By the end of the workshop you should be able to....

• Repair a rip/tear or hole.
• Shorten/lengthen an item of clothing [or curtains!].
• Find a temporary solution to repair a broken zip.
• Sew on a button and fastening, sew on velcro, sew on bra-strap holders.
• Replace elastic, and use toupée tape for keeping items in place.
• Quick stitching to make temporary tucks in shoulders/necklines, etc.

Trainer - Deborah de Lloyd

Deborah is a Costume Maker with over 17 years of experience within TV, film and theatre. She has also worked as a bridal alterations seamstress and an alterations tailor for a dry-cleaners. As well as designing, cutting and making costumes and drapes, she has altered and repaired many costumes and accessories, usually at very short/emergency notice.

Deborah has worked for Vale of Glamorgan Council as a Creative Adult Learning Tutor, teaching Dress-making and Clothes up-cycling skills as well as How to use a Sewing Machine. she has also worked for Oasis Cardiff, teaching sewing skills to refugees and asylum seekers.

Mae'r cwrs hwn wedi'i anelu at unrhyw un sy'n gweithio yn yr adran wisgoedd o fewn y theatr neu'r teledu ac sydd eisiau gwella eu sgiliau gwnïo/addasiadau. Mae ar agor i ddechreuwyr gwnïo yn ogystal â'r rhai sydd â lefel sylfaenol o wnïo o leiaf.

• Byrhau/estyn darn o ddillad neu len.
• dod o hyd i ateb dros dro i atgyweirio zip sydd wedi torri.
• Gwnïo botwm a chau ymlaen, gwnïo felcro ymlaen, gwnïo deiliaid strap bra ymlaen.
• Amnewid elastig, defnyddio tâp toupée i gadw eitemau yn eu lle.
• Pwytho cyflym i wneud plygiadau dros dro yn yr ysgwyddau/gyddfau, ac ati.

Byddai'n ddefnyddiol ymchwilio i wahanol ddulliau o gau dillad cyn y cwrs. Os yn bosibl, dewch â phecyn gwnïo sylfaenol - siswrn, gwniadur, nodwyddau, pinnau ac ati. Fe fydd peiriannau gwnïo yn cael eu darparu, ond croeso i chi ddod a un eich hun.

Hyfforddwraig - Deborah de Lloyd

Mae Deborah yn Gwneuthurwr Gwisgoedd gyda dros 17 mlynedd o brofiad o fewn teledu, ffilm a theatr. Mae hi hefyd wedi gweithio fel gwniadwraig addasiadau priodasol a theiliwr addasiadau ar gyfer glanhawyr sych. Yn ogystal â dylunio, torri a gwneud gwisgoedd a llenni, mae hi wedi newid ac atgyweirio llawer o wisgoedd ac ategolion, fel arfer ar fyr rybudd.

Mae Deborah wedi gweithio i Gyngor Bro Morganwg fel Tiwtor Dysgu Oedolion Creadigol, gan ddysgu sgiliau Gwneud Gwisgoedd ac Ailgylchu Dillad yn ogystal â Sut i Ddefnyddio Peiriant Gwnïo. Mae hi hefyd wedi gweithio i Oasis Caerdydd, gan ddysgu sgiliau gwnïo i ffoaduriaid a cheiswyr lloches.

Mae CULT Cymru yn rhaglen sgiliau a gefnogir trwy Cronfa Ddysgu Undebau Cymru Llywodraeth Cymru. Mae gweithdai CULT Cymru yn cael eu darparu mewn amgylchedd cyfeillgar ac anfygythiol ble bydd cyfranogwyr yn cael cyfle i ofyn cwestiynau a chodi materion yn ystod y dydd.

Cancellation and Refunds Policy

A full refund will be issued to delegates who cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Delegates who cancel within the 2 week period will not be eligible for a refund unless we are able to find someone else to take their place. Please let us know as soon as possible if you find you're no longer able to attend the workshop.
