Presented by the Chris Ross Corner Pocket Quartet!Born in Pittsburgh in 1926, Ray Brown rose to prominence in the late 1940s as a cornerstone of the bebop movement, performing alongside Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker before becoming the longtime musical partner and short-time husband of Ella Fitzgerald. His decades-long collaboration with pianist Oscar Peterson produced some of the most celebrated recordings in jazz history, and his work as a sideman, bandleader, and producer left an indelible mark on the art form before his passing in 2002.
