The final Cornell Chamber Orchestra concert of the season highlights a vibrant range of repertoire centered largely on American composers, presented in the context of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. Jessie Montgomery’s Strum opens the program with rhythmic energy and folk-inspired vitality, followed by Malcolm Arnold’s Flute Concerto No. 1 featuring Cole Laudenslager, winner of the Annual Concerto Competition in the Chamber category. The program also includes Andy Akiho’s colorful Karakurenai and Arthur Foote’s Serenade, Op. 25, bringing together contemporary American voices, American Romantic tradition, and a touch of British lyricism.photo credit: Manifesto Designs
