If you have Coralville city trash service, you can throw away an item that's too big for your trash cart, like a piece of broken furniture, for free during Mayor's Clean Up Week. Some restrictions apply.Truck space is limited. Mayor's Clean Up Week is only for an item that belongs in the trash and cannot be reused; not a roomful. DO NOT THROW AWAY USABLE ITEMS. For a list of places to donate items, see www.coralville.org/cleanup.
Put your item at the curb up to 24 hours before or by 7:00 am on your regular trash day.
Small loose items left on the ground won't be picked up. If you have extra bags of garbage, tag them as usual.
Metal is picked up by a separate truck; pickup may be different from your regular trash day.
Do not leave items in cardboard boxes. Cardboard must be recycled.
Restrictions:
• Weight: Must be able to be reasonably lifted by two people.
• Size: Must fit in the garbage truck. Take apart large items.
• We will not pick up items like appliances, electronics, cardboard, construction materials, hazardous materials, and wooden swingsets. See www.coralville.org/cleanup for a full list.
• We cannot pick up hazardous items. If you're unsure, call 319.248.1740.
