About this Event
The FPV Drone Summer Camp is a free, 5-day hands-on program where students learn the fundamentals of drone flight, technology, and digital safety. Each day is structured to build skills progressively, combining classroom instruction with interactive practice.
Students will learn:
- Drone safety and basic flight controls
- FPV (First Person View) flying using simulators and real-world application
- Introduction to drone components and how they work
- Problem-solving and critical thinking through guided challenges
In addition, all students receive training from the Raising Youth Against Trafficking (RYAT) program, where they learn essential digital literacy skills such as online safety, recognizing risky situations, and protecting their personal information.
Daily Structure:
- Day 1–2: Introduction to drones, safety, and simulator training
- Day 3–4: Skill development, flight practice, and confidence building
- Day 5: Capstone event where students showcase their skills in a fun group challenge
By the end of the camp, students will:
- Earn their FAA TRUST recreational drone certificate
- Receive a certificate of completion
- Gain access to a professional drone flight simulator
- Demonstrate safe drone operation and basic flight skills
- Develop stronger confidence in both technology use and online safety
This program is designed to be engaging, educational, and empowering—giving students real-world skills they can build on long after the camp ends.
