About this Event

Yes it's a Bank Holiday weekend Bath has always been a popular trip with so much to do, visiting the Cotswolds is just bliss and a lovely treat out in the countryside.

Come alone, come with friends, a great opportunity to get out of the hustle and bustle of city life. 99% of our members attend trips alone and meet others and spend the day together having fun and exploring.

The Cotswolds covers a huge area – almost 800 square miles – and runs through five counties (Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire). We have visited Castle Combe, Lacock, Burford, Bourton-On-The-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold

Bourton-On-The-Water

A picturesque town, was so lovely to visit last year, we didn't want to leave, affectionately known as ‘the Venice of the Cotswolds’, it's a popular destination for visitors. Take ample time to stroll by the river and its small bridges. Visit the Model Village, get an idea of what it would have felt like to be Gulliver in Lilliput as you explore the only Grade II listed model village in the country. Created from local Cotswold stone by highly skilled craftsmen, it is a replica of the buildings that existed in Bourton-on-the-Water in the 1930s. The idyllic and unspoilt village is often regarded as the most picturesque in England. It is set in a stunningly beautiful deep-sided river valley. Famed for its Cotswold stone houses that have remained unchanged for hundreds of years and are listed buildings in their own right.

The village has also been used as a popular filming location to depict the past. The Steven Spielberg movie 'War Horse' and the Hollywood movie 'Wolfman' both filmed major scenes in Castle Combe. Doctor Doolittle and Harry Potter were also filmed in the village.

Bath

The charming city of Bath owes its name to the famed hot springs - the only ones in the country. Consequently, the city was established by the Romans as a spa resort in the First Century AD . Here you'll still find one of the world's best-preserved Roman bathhouses. The beautiful River Avon also runs through the city centre where you can take in some breathtaking views.

A wealth of Independent shops, boutiques, bistros and cafes line the streets between the historic architecture. For those who love the arts, the city is home to an extensive range of art galleries and museums - including the East Asian Art Museum, Holburne Museum of Art, the Fashion Museum, the Jane Austen Centre, the Herschel Museum and the Roman Baths Museum.
