About this Event
During the American Revolution, copperplate engravings played a critical role in political discourse, as one of the major ways to reproduce images for news stories or political cartoons. In addition to his work as a silversmith, Paul Revere also made money and exercised his political voice by creating engravings, such as his famous print of the Boston Massacre.
Join us for a 90-minute workshop to learn more about 18th-Century printmaking techniques and Paul Revere’s work as an engraver! Participants will view images created by Paul Revere, and will create their own engraving using a modern version of Revere’s printmaking techniques, which they can also re-create at home. Each participant will leave the workshop with a small engraved copper plate, and several printed copies of their engraving.
This workshop is limited to 10 participants. Registration is $20 (includes all necessary materials.)
