About this Event
Cooking Like a Sicilian: Fennel Salad, Anchovy-Broccoli Pasta & Ricotta Cassateddi (Chef Maria Strazzanti)
Step into the heart of Sicilian home cooking with Chef Maria Strazzanti in a class inspired by everyday traditions, bold flavours, and the warmth of sharing food together.
We’ll begin with a demonstration of a refreshing Sicilian fennel salad, learning the simple steps and balance of ingredients that make this dish so iconic. Once prepared, we’ll set it aside to enjoy later.
For the main, Chef Maria will guide you through a classic Sicilian pasta dish: spaghetti with anchovy and broccoli pesto, finished with toasted breadcrumbs, often known as “poor man’s cheese,” adding texture and depth. This comforting pasta is a staple in many Sicilian households.
To finish, the class becomes hands-on as you learn how to make Cassateddi di Ricotta, a beloved Sicilian dessert filled with sweet ricotta. You’ll take your dessert home to enjoy.
This experience celebrates the simplicity, balance, and authenticity of Sicilian cuisine.
