About this Event

Join the Jo Cox Foundation for a Common Room session on Conversations that Matter, with

WiYN? has for 15 years been holding conversations.

These welcome difficult subjects like race, immigration and culture and aim to disrupt divisive influences. Rooted in and working around South Yorkshire, WiYN? also supports others who seek to bridge divides, build trust and cope well with change in their unique context.

What is this Common Room about?

This workshop will give you an overview of Who is Your Neighbours work - their learning, principles and methodology.

We will focus on responding to troubling conversations in everyday settings.

At the session we will:

  • hear how WiYN? enables people to have conversations about sensitive topics
  • practice some skills which you can use to respond to troubling conversations
  • share and reflect together on our experiences
  • find out about tools for holding conversations that support our community

Who is the event for?

Anyone interested in having good conversations about difficult subjects in communities, is welcome to take part in this Common Room event.

What will you get from the Common Room?

By the end of the session you will

  • have experienced new ways to repond to troubling conversations
  • feel hope that better conversations on sensitive subjects are possible 
  • be curious to know more about Who Is Your Neighbour? approach
  • know about further training and support

Access

The venue is in Bradford city centre, close to bus stops and with parking outside. The venue is accessible for people with mobility difficulties, with accessible toilets. After you register we will send you the full details of the venue including access.

Lunch will be provided. Please let us know your dietary needs.
