About the artists:
Phong Bui is an artist, writer, independent curator, and co-founder and Artistic Director of "The Brooklyn Rail," a free monthly journal of arts, culture, and politics. He is also the publisher of Rail Editions. Bui has curated over 50 monographic and group shows since 2000, including the first anniversary commemoration in 2013 of "Hurricane Sandy: Come Together: Surviving Sandy," Year 1.
Joseph Havel is an artist primarily known for drawing and sculpture who lives and works in Houston, Texas and Menerbes, France. A selection of recent solo exhibitions include "Parrot Architecture" at Dallas Contemporary, "Joss" at Asia Society Houston, "Flight Paths and Floor Plans" at Talley Dunn Gallery, Dallas, and "Parrot Architecture" at Josh Pazda Hiram Butler Gallery, Houston. A 10-year retrospective of his work was presented at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston in 2006.
Angel Otero is a Puerto Rican-born artist who currently lives and works between New York and Puerto Rico. His practice is known for employing highly innovative techniques that challenge the parameters of his materials, revealing the intrinsic qualities of paint. His work is included in numerous public and private collections including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Bronx, NY; DePaul Art Museum, Chicago, IL; Istanbul Modern, Istanbul, Turkey; and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY.
