Participants will learn how to control severe arterial bleeding using commercial tourniquets or improvised methods, apply compression bandages, pack wounds, treat chest injuries, and recognize and treat shock. This five hour class will cover the CONTROL THE BLEED section of the USCCA Emergency First Aid Fundamentals Course with the addition of practical application on simulated body parts, yourself, and other students. Students will apply tourniquets, compression bandages, and pack simulated woulds.
We will cover:
- Equipment options
- Types of wounds
- Use of gauze for wound packing
- Use of chest seals
- Tourniquets application
- There will be several kinds of tourniquets to try.
Please bring several pair of latex or nitrile gloves in your size for the control the bleed simulation.
