This weeks theme: šæ Contact Improv Jam: Consent as ConversationThis weekās Contact Improvisation jam invites a gentle, choice-based approach to moving together. Weāll begin by slowing down and listening to our own bodies, noticing where there is ease, curiosity, or a desire for space.
Through simple, non-verbal exercises, weāll explore how to approach, pause, connect, or step awayāletting consent be an ongoing conversation rather than a fixed decision. Touch and weight sharing are always optional, and youāre welcome to change your mind at any time.
This is a spacious, supportive environment where boundaries are respected, pacing is honored, and rest, witnessing, or dancing solo are all valid ways to participate.
All levels welcome. Come as you are.
A great time to get present, creative, and have fun building the community!
Join us every Saturday eveningā¦Weāll explore some tools and concepts that make this amazing practice so healthy, fun, and growing. This is open for everyone.
Join us for a workshop exploring Contact Improv practices and tools. CI communities worldwide have guidelines and specific tools that build and over time and with practice open up ways to move with many different bodies, different situations and to move with keeping each other safe and approach risk skillfully.
We will warm up with a guided embodiment exploration and connect to the present moment through our bodies. Next well explore 3-4 exercises and concepts to practice in a short jam session. Thereās time to ask questions, give and receive feedback and be a beginner or be experienced in the method.
10 reasons exploring Contact Improv workshop and jam is super goodš
1. We do a long warm up. Connecting to the body via sensation, guided into different ways of moving, and then we ācheck inā. šš¼this is GREAT for new folks to awaken body awareness, spacial awareness, and to develop safety in a group setting.
2. We explore into the moment with questionsā¦. This opens the mind to new ways of thinking, a more childlike and fresh feeling and opens more to the moment informing us⦠to create. Itās dependent on who arrives and whatās neededā¦.
3. Contact tools are explored that have less to do with touch as a sensuous thing⦠itās physics. Momentum. Point of contact. Weight sharing. Leaning in. Taking in weight, giving weight. This offers safety in that there is no hidden agenda around touch being an intimate sensuous act between lovers. This is more like kids coming together to play:) or adults just getting out of their heads, off their phones, and into their bodies together.
4. It feels like a meditation and is similar in its health benefits tho added obvious physical ones.
5. EVERY body type, age, ability is welcome, supported, encouraged⦠and in fact makes the experience more potent. We learn from each otherā¦. There is no āTierā of better than⦠some have practiced more with more different bodies⦠and that adds to equally important, rich and honest experience of someone brand new, in a wheel chair, or with body stuff going on ( injuries etc).
6. Itās so healing.
7. Touch is natural, necessary, and has many facets beyond sexual/sensual.
8. Itās creative. Going to the improvisational endā¦. Getting to the point of āI donāt know what to do hereā, is a doorway into the body waking up itās dormant reflexes, body intelligence and the mind to possibilities.
9. It gives energy naturally.
10. The communities around the world celebrating contact improv 50 year anniversary this year, are the most loving, spacious, heart centered embodied human heart communities Iāve ever feltā¦..
