About the author:
Bram Stoker was born in Dublin in 1847 and worked as a civil servant for 10 years before turning his focus to theatre and writing. He published several novels, short stories and works of non-fiction. His iconic novel Dracula was published in 1897 and since then it has never been out of print.
Stoker continues to be one of Ireland's most celebrated authors and his legacy is commemorated in Dublin every October bank holiday weekend with the Bram Stoker Festival.
About the book:
When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a London house, he makes a series of horrific discoveries about his client. Soon afterwards, various bizarre incidents unfold in England.
In Dracula, Bram Stoker created one of the great masterpieces of the horror genre, brilliantly evoking a nightmare world of vampires and vampire hunters and also illuminating the dark corners of Victorian sexuality and desire.
