A collaborative workshop that breaks down how the construction and built environment industry contributes to climate change - and what to do
About this Event

Buildings make up nearly half of global greenhouse gas emissions — yet they also hold some of our most powerful solutions.

If we want to meet the climate challenge, we need to rethink the way we design, build, and live in the spaces around us.
This session invites you to do exactly that — through the Construction Collage, a collaborative 3‑hour workshop that shares crucial data into shared understanding, creativity, and tangible action!

In just one evening, you'll:

  • Decode the hidden impact of the built environment — from urban planning to day‑to‑day use.
  • Visualise the system using interactive Collage cards based on data from the IPCC, ADEME, CITEPA, and more*.
  • Collaborate with others to design your own creative “Construction Collage.”
  • Co‑create practical action plans for how we can individually and collectively reduce our sector’s footprint.

This isn’t a lecture — it’s a dynamic, hands‑on experience that connects logic, rethinking and creativity.
Come ready to debate, draw, discover patterns, and leave seeing construction not as a problem, but as a space for innovation, resilience, and regeneration.

The contents are backed by information and data from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Environmental Transition Agency (ADEME), the Centre for Economic Studies and Research on Energy (CEREN), the Technical Interprofessional Centre for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CITEPA), the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), Carbon 4 and the National Carbon Strategy (SNBC). Building techniques and regulations vary greatly between countries and regions. Therefore, we’ve gathered global data and local illustrations to raise issues.

Agenda
Part 1: Understanding

Info: During this part of 1h30, the participants discover the game cards and co-construct the Collage around different themes:
needs | urban planning | design | construction | use and thier consequences.

Part 2: Creativity & Short Break

Info: In about 25 minutes, participants decompress and take a step back on the Collage by illustrating it, making it unique. Participants must return their Collage the most attractive, original and understanding possible. They must choose a title together, highlight key messages, add illustrations... This creative phase makes it possible to appropriate knowledge.

Part 3: Action

Info: This part lasts 1 hour and is divided into two stages:

Participants imagine and propose their courses of action
In a second stage, 60 action paths maps are proposed. Players become aware of this, selecting and explaining their choice to others. After the discussion, they decide the most relevant courses of action and the actions to be taken.

Part 4: Summary & Closing

Info: In just 5 minutes, we summarise what has been learnt in order to anchor it in people's minds and to give an overview.
