About this Event
Conservation Easement Workshop for War Eagle Landowners - FREE
This workshop will introduce the concept of conservation easements to landowners in the War Eagle watershed, with an emphasis on the flexibility and long-term benefits of these voluntary agreements. Conservation easements are powerful tools that allow landowners to permanently protect the conservation values of their land such as water quality, wildlife habitat, working lands, or scenic views- while retaining full ownership and use of the property within the terms of the agreement.
Attendees will learn how easements can be tailored to fit the unique characteristics of their land and personal goals, whether those include ongoing agricultural use, forestry, or natural habitat restoration. NWALT will emphasize how easements can safeguard a landowner’s investments in stewardship and restoration in perpetuity, ensuring that their legacy and conservation values are honored for generations to come.
Through a presentation and a case study of an existing NWALT conservation easement, participants will gain a clear understanding of the practical and legal considerations of easements, and the many ways they can support both personal and community conservation goals. The goal of this event is to build relationships with interested landowners and schedule at least two initial site visits for further easement exploration.
